Mentions let you tag other users in your Moments, Stories, and comments. When you mention someone, they'll receive a notification.
Mentioning a user
- While writing a Moment caption or comment, type
@followed by the user's name. - A list of suggested users will appear.
- Tap the user you want to mention.
The mention will appear as a tappable link. When other users tap it, they'll be taken to the mentioned user's profile.
Who gets notified
When you mention someone:
- They receive a push notification (if they have notifications enabled)
- The mention appears in their notifications tab
Managing your mention preferences
You can manage your mention preferences in Settings > Privacy.
Mentioning in Stories
You can also mention users in your Stories. When you add text or a caption to a Story, type @ and select the user. The mention will appear as a tag on your Story, and the mentioned user will be notified.
