Checking in at a place

A check-in shares where you are right now. It's the fourth option under the + button, alongside Moment, Flash, and Audition.

Checking in

1. Tap + and choose Check-in.
2. Pick the place. You can filter the list to find it.
3. Add a note if you like — "what are you doing here?"
4. Share. The screen shows the XP you'll get before you do.

Some places give a career bonus on top, when the place suits what you do.

First visit, and visits after that

Your first check-in somewhere is marked New discovery. After that the count shows — Visit #7 — and once you're a familiar face there, the place says so.

The place page

Every place has its own page showing:

• Here now — who's checked in at the moment
• Been here — who's been before
• Flashes shared here
• Regular — the person with the most check-ins in the last 60 days
• Directions, and a button to open it in Maps

Greet Everyone

On a place page you can greet everybody who's there in one tap — a quick way to say hello without messaging each person.

Location permission

Check-ins need your device's location, and only when you're using the feature. See Managing your account settings for where device permissions live.
