Mentions let you tag other users in your Moments, Flashes, and comments. When you mention someone, they'll receive a notification.
Mentioning a user
- While writing a Moment caption or comment, type
@followed by the user's name. - A list of suggested users will appear.
- Tap the user you want to mention.
The mention will appear as a tappable link. When other users tap it, they'll be taken to the mentioned user's profile.
Who gets notified
When you mention someone:
- They receive a push notification (if they have notifications enabled)
- The mention appears in their notifications tab
Managing your mention preferences
You can manage your mention preferences in Settings > Privacy.
Mentioning in a Flash
You can also mention users in a Flash. While composing, add a mention and pick the person. The mention appears as a tag on your Flash, and they are notified.
Mentions and privacy
If someone mentions you and you don't want to be associated with their content, you can:
- Report the content if it violates community guidelines
