A Flash is a quick, in-the-moment share that disappears after 24 hours. It's for what's happening right now — the parts of your day that don't need to stay on your profile.
Posting a Flash
- Tap the
+button in the middle of the tab bar. - Choose
Flash. - Take a photo, record a video, or pick something from your library. Flash videos must be 30 seconds or less.
- Add a caption, add a location, or mention someone.
- Share it.
Watching Flashes
When someone you follow posts a Flash, a glowing ring appears around their avatar. Tap the avatar to watch.
- Tap the right side of the screen for the next Flash
- Tap the left side to go back
- Swipe down or tap close to exit
How long a Flash lasts
Every Flash disappears 24 hours after you post it. If you want something to stay on your profile, post it as a Moment instead. See How to post a Moment.
Who can see your Flashes
Your Flashes follow your account privacy. On a public account anyone can see them; on a private account only approved followers can. You can switch account type in Settings > Privacy. See Controlling who can see your profile.
Saving and rating
You can save a Flash to come back to it later, and Flashes can be rated the same way Moments can. Everything you save appears under Settings > Saved & Ratings, on the Flashes tab. Only you can see what you've saved.
Mentions and locations
Adding a location puts the place on your Flash, and mentioning someone sends them a notification. See Using mentions and tags.
Reporting a Flash
Open the menu on any Flash to report it, go to the poster's profile, or connect with them. See How to report inappropriate content.
