Your inbox has three tabs — All, Requests, and Archived — plus a set of actions for keeping conversations in order.
Actions on a conversation
Swipe a conversation in your inbox, or open it and use the menu at the top:
- Pin — keeps the conversation at the top of your inbox
- Mute — stops notifications from that conversation without leaving it
- Archive — moves it out of
Alland intoArchived; it comes back when there's a new message - Mark as unread — puts the unread dot back so you remember to return
- Delete chat — see below
Deleting a chat
Deleting a chat hides it from your inbox and clears its messages from your view. Future messages from that person won't bring it back. The other person's copy of the conversation is not affected and they are not notified.
Pinned messages
Inside a conversation you can pin a single message so it stays in a banner at the top. Tap and hold a message and choose Pin Message; tap the banner's unpin control to remove it.
Searching inside a chat
Open the menu at the top of a conversation and tap Search to look through that conversation's messages.
Read receipts
Read receipts are on by default. You can turn them off in Settings > Privacy > Read receipts. It works both ways: with them off, others can't see when you've read their messages, and you can't see when they've read yours. You can turn them back on at any time.
Drafts
If you type a message and leave without sending it, the text is kept as a draft and the conversation shows a Draft: label in your inbox.
Blocking from a chat
The chat menu also has Block and Report. See How to block users.
