About message requests

BeMatrx uses a message request system to help you control who can reach you. When someone you don't already chat with sends you a message for the first time, it arrives as a message request instead of going directly to your inbox.

Why we use message requests

Message requests protect your privacy and reduce unwanted messages. They let you review who is trying to contact you before a full conversation begins.

Where to find your message requests

Message requests appear in a separate section of your Messages tab. You'll see a notification when you receive a new request.

To view your message requests:

  1. Open the Messages tab.
  2. Tap Message Requests at the top of your inbox.
  3. Review the pending requests.

Accepting, declining, or blocking a request

When you tap on a message request, you'll see the sender's profile and their first message. You can:

  • Accept: The chat moves to your main inbox, and you can reply normally.
  • Decline: The chat is removed from your requests. The sender is not notified.
  • Block: The sender is blocked and cannot contact you again. See How to block users.

If you send a message request

If you message someone new, your message is delivered as a request. Until they accept:

  • They will not see your message in their main inbox
  • You cannot send additional messages to them
  • You won't know whether they've viewed your request

If your request is declined

If the recipient declines your message request, your request is simply removed from their view. You will not receive a notification, and you won't be told that it was declined. You'll see no further delivery or read updates.

If you are blocked

If the recipient blocks you, your messages will not be delivered, and you will not be able to contact them again. See How to block users.

Keeping your inbox clean

Message requests are a useful tool for filtering out unwanted contact. Review them at your own pace and accept only messages from people you want to hear from.
