How to keep your account secure
BeMatrx gives you a few ways to protect your account. They all live in the same place: open the Profile tab, tap the gear icon, and go to Login & security.
Biometric sign-in
If your phone has Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint sensor, you can use it to get into BeMatrx instead of typing your password every time. The row in Login & security is named after whatever your device uses — tap it to turn it on or off.
The row only appears if biometrics are already set up on the device. Your face or fingerprint never leaves your phone: BeMatrx only ever receives a yes or a no from the operating system.
Connected accounts
Login & security > Connected accounts shows whether your BeMatrx account is linked to Google or Apple, and lets you link or unlink them.
Signing in through Google or Apple means there is no separate BeMatrx password that can leak — the provider handles the sign-in, along with whatever protection you already have on that account.
Changing your password
Tap Login & security > Change or add password. If you created your account with Google or Apple and never set a password, the same screen lets you add one, so you can sign in with your email as well.
Change it right away if you've used the same password somewhere else, shared it with anyone, or simply have a bad feeling about it.
If you forgot your password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. We send a 6-digit code to that address; type it into the app and you can set a new password there and then.
The code is only valid for a short while, so ask for a new one if it runs out. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder and make sure you used the address that's on your account.
Choosing a strong password
- Long beats complicated — four unrelated words are harder to break than one short word with symbols in it
- Use it nowhere else. A password reused from a site that later gets breached is the most common way accounts are lost
- Keep it in a password manager rather than in your head or in a note on your phone
- Don't build it from things anyone could look up: your name, your birthday, your BeMatrx ID
Other things that help
- Keep the email address on your account current — it's how you get back in if you're locked out
- BeMatrx will never ask you for your password or for a code you received, in a message or anywhere else
- Under
Privacy & activityyou can control who sees your profile and manage blocked users
If you think someone else has been in your account, change your password first, then write to privacy@bematrx.com from the email address on the account.
